If you are planning a cycling holiday in Mallorca, one of the first questions you will ask is simple. When is the best time to go?
It sounds like an easy question, but the answer matters more than most people realise. The time of year you choose will shape your entire experience. It affects the weather, the roads, the number of riders on the island, and how enjoyable each day on the bike feels.
Mallorca cycling is famous around the world for a reason. Smooth roads, steady climbs, quiet countryside, and the iconic Tramuntana mountains make it one of the best places you can ride a bike. But like any great destination, it changes throughout the year.
For riders travelling from the United States and Canada, timing becomes even more important. You are not just booking a short trip. You are planning a full cycling vacation. You want the weather to be right, the riding to feel smooth, and the overall experience to match what you have imagined.
This is where many people get it wrong.
They assume Mallorca is a year round cycling destination. They see photos of sunshine and blue skies and think any month will deliver the same experience. The reality is very different. Mallorca has clear seasons, and some are far better for cycling than others.
At Velocamp Mallorca, we have built our cycling camps around this. We operate from the first of September through to the end of May. During the summer months of June, July, and August, we do not run cycling camps in Mallorca. The heat becomes too intense, especially for riders coming from cooler climates like the US and Canada.
In peak summer, temperatures regularly reach 30 degrees Celsius and above, which is around 86 degrees Fahrenheit and often higher. On long climbs with very little shade, this becomes difficult very quickly. Hydration becomes harder to manage, recovery slows down, and the experience can feel more like survival than enjoyment.
Compare that to spring or autumn, where temperatures usually sit between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius, or around 59 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. These are ideal conditions for cycling in Mallorca. Cool enough to ride comfortably for hours, warm enough to enjoy the sun, and stable enough to maintain consistency across multiple days.
This is why Mallorca cycling holidays are most popular outside of summer.
It is not just about comfort. It is about performance. When the temperature is right, you ride better, recover better, and enjoy the experience more.
Another important factor is daylight. During the main cycling season, you have long, bright days that allow for relaxed riding. There is time to enjoy the route, to stop when needed, and to ride without pressure.
Choosing the right time of year is not just a small detail. It is the foundation of your entire cycling holiday in Mallorca.
Once you understand that timing matters, the next step is knowing what each part of the year actually looks like.

September
September is one of the best months to start your Mallorca cycling holiday. The intense summer heat begins to ease, and temperatures settle into a more comfortable range, usually between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius, or around 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The sea is still warm, the days are long, and the island starts to quiet down after the busy summer period.
October
October is often considered one of the best months for cycling in Mallorca. Temperatures drop slightly, sitting between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, or 64 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The air feels fresh, the roads are quieter, and the overall atmosphere is more relaxed. It is an ideal time for longer rides and steady climbing in Mallorca.
November
November becomes even quieter. Temperatures are usually between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, or 59 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It is still excellent for cycling, especially for riders who prefer cooler conditions. The roads are peaceful, and you begin to feel like you have the island to yourself.
December
December and January are the coolest months. Temperatures typically sit between 10 and 16 degrees Celsius, or 50 to 61 degrees Fahrenheit. For riders coming from Canada or the northern United States, this still feels very manageable compared to winter at home. The roads are quiet, the air is crisp, and the riding is calm.
February
February marks the beginning of the season building again. Temperatures start to rise slightly, usually between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius, or 54 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. More cyclists return to the island, and the famous almond blossom begins to appear across the landscape.
March
March is when Mallorca cycling really comes alive. Temperatures sit between 14 and 20 degrees Celsius, or 57 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The days are longer, the roads are busier, and the energy across the island increases. This is one of the most popular months for Mallorca cycling camps.
April
April is widely considered one of the best months of all. Temperatures range between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius, or 61 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Conditions are stable, the landscape is green, and the riding feels smooth and consistent. Many riders from the US and Canada choose this time for their cycling vacation.
May
May continues this trend with slightly warmer temperatures, usually between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, or 64 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The days are long, the weather is reliable, and the island is in full cycling mode. It is an excellent time to experience Mallorca cycling at its best.
Summer
Then come June, July, and August.

This is where things change significantly.
Temperatures regularly rise above 30 degrees Celsius, or 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and often higher. The heat becomes the dominant factor. Riding in the mountains becomes much more demanding, hydration becomes more difficult, and recovery is slower.
This is why Velocamp Mallorca does not operate during these months. The conditions simply do not allow for the level of experience we want to deliver.
When you look at the full year, the pattern is clear. The best time for cycling in Mallorca is between September and May, with October, March, April, and May standing out as the most ideal months.
But choosing the right time is only part of the equation.
How you experience Mallorca matters just as much.
Cycling in Mallorca can be incredible, but it can also be overwhelming if you try to manage everything yourself. Routes, nutrition, timing, recovery, and logistics all add up quickly.
At Velocamp Mallorca, we remove that stress completely.
We operate during the best months for cycling in Mallorca and structure every day around the conditions. You are riding at the right time of day, on the best roads, in the best possible environment.
You are not rushing to beat traffic. You are not guessing when to start. Everything flows naturally.
This is especially important when it comes to climbing in Mallorca. The most famous climbs feel completely different when ridden at the right time, on quiet roads, with steady effort.
But the experience goes far beyond the riding itself.
At Velocamp Mallorca, everything is built so that you can focus on one thing. Riding your bike.
You wake up in a calm environment, away from busy hotels and distractions. You roll out onto quiet roads. You move into the mountains without stress.
Out on the road, everything is taken care of. Food and drink stations are set up so that you never have to think about where to stop. Cold water, electrolytes, fresh food, everything ready when you need it.
This is where the difference becomes clear.
You see riders out on the roads, stopping at petrol stations, searching for cafés, unsure of where to go next. Then they pass a Velocamp Mallorca setup. Riders relaxed, refuelling properly, enjoying the ride.
It is a completely different experience.
When everything is taken care of, cycling becomes simple again.
You ride. You enjoy. You recover. You repeat.
Back at the villa, that same structure continues. You have space to relax, to recover properly, to prepare for the next day. It is not a busy hotel environment. It is a setting designed for cycling.
This is what allows riders to complete six full days of cycling in Mallorca, covering over 500 kilometres and more than 8,000 meters of climbing, and still feel strong at the end of the week.
It is not just about fitness.
It is about doing things the right way.
Choosing the right time of year is the first step. Choosing the right environment is the second.
And when you combine both, Mallorca becomes everything you hoped it would be.
If you are planning a cycling holiday in Mallorca, aim for the months between September and May. Focus on the cooler temperatures, the quieter roads, and the conditions that allow you to ride at your best.
And if you want to experience Mallorca cycling at the highest level, without stress and without guesswork, Velocamp Mallorca is here to make that happen.
