Why a Cycling Holiday in Mallorca is the Perfect Balance of Challenge and Luxury

There is a moment on every great ride in Mallorca when you realise how lucky you are to be here. The sun is warm, the road is smooth, and the group moves together like one. You look around and see the sea sparkling in the distance and the mountains rising above you. You know that by the end of the week your legs will ache, your tan lines will be sharp, and you will have ridden more than five hundred kilometres across one of the most beautiful cycling landscapes in the world. You will have climbed over eight thousand metres in total. Yet you will do it with a smile on your face, without ever feeling broken or pushed beyond what feels right for you. That is the difference between a cycling camp and a cycling holiday.

For years, Mallorca has been the playground of professional cyclists. Every spring the island fills with riders in matching kits, training to the beep of their power meters and stopping only when the schedule tells them to. These training camps are designed to test you, to strip you down, and to build you back up stronger. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is not what most riders are looking for when they think of a holiday. A cycling holiday should be about the balance between effort and enjoyment. It should challenge you enough to feel proud but still leave you relaxed and refreshed when you get home. That is exactly what we deliver at Velocamp Mallorca.

We have built something different here. You will still cover serious ground. You will still climb the famous roads of the Tramuntana Mountains. You will still earn every evening meal with the sweat of a good ride. But you will do it in comfort, with full support from the moment you leave the villa each morning to the moment you roll back through the gates in the afternoon. There are no shouts from the van and no stopwatch on the handlebars. Everyone rides at their level, guided and supported by a team that knows the island inside out.

Each day begins with breakfast prepared by our private chef. The coffee is rich, the fruit is fresh, and the air outside is already warm. The bikes are ready and waiting, perfectly cleaned, tuned, and fitted for the day ahead. Once the group rolls out from the villa in Alaró, the service begins. Along every route we set up dedicated fuel and hydration stations only for our riders. Fresh fruit, sandwiches, energy bars, Haribos, gels, and cold bottles of water and isotonic drinks are waiting whenever you need them. You will not be searching for the next café or gas station. You will not be queuing for a pastry while watching your ride time disappear. You will roll in, refuel, smile, and roll out again.

What cyclists want

It is one of the things that sets Velocamp Mallorca apart. Other riders pass by looking hot, tired, and jealous, staring at the tables laid out with food and shade, saying, “Next time we are booking with them.” It happens every week, and it never gets old. This level of care allows our riders to stay focused on what matters...the road, the scenery, and the experience.

The rides themselves are varied and beautiful. Some days we climb through the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains, winding past stone villages and olive groves on roads built with perfect gradients. Other days we spin through the open plains of the centre, legs turning easily while the group chats and the sun beats down. It is still a challenge, but it is never punishment. The guides are always there to keep the group together and adjust the pace when needed. Stronger riders often loop back to encourage others, and everyone finishes with a sense of shared accomplishment.

When you return to the villa each afternoon, the best part of the day begins. The moment you step off the bike, there is a smoothie in your hand. Fresh cakes, cookies, hummus, flatbreads, and fruit are waiting on the table. You eat, you laugh, and you talk about the day while the staff handle everything else. Bikes are cleaned and checked, bottles are refilled, and within minutes you are sitting by the pool, feet in the water, the heat of the day melting away. Some riders drift upstairs for their massage. Our in house sports physiotherapist is also a trained osteopath and chiropractor, so every knot and strain is taken care of properly. Others stay outside, chatting quietly or dozing in the sun.

Dinner is always something to look forward to. Our chef prepares balanced, flavourful meals made from local ingredients, each one designed to refuel and satisfy. The evenings are slow, calm, and filled with conversation. There is no talk of numbers or data. Just good food, good wine if you want it, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel completely at home.

That is the true difference between a cycling camp and a cycling holiday. At a camp, everything revolves around performance. At a holiday like ours, everything revolves around you. We make sure every detail is right so that you can ride hard without worry. You will still cover big distances and climb real mountains, but you will do it knowing that everything you need is already waiting for you.

A global destination

For riders from countries like the United States, Norway, Denmark, China, and the UAE, Mallorca is often a revelation. It is an island full of culture, history, and beauty, yet it is small enough to explore fully by bike. For guests coming from the wide open spaces of America, where long roads stretch across endless plains, Mallorca feels intimate and rich with character. Every village has a story, every turn of the road brings a new view, and the quality of the riding is unlike anything at home. For guests from the Middle East, the cool mornings, the mountain air, and the green landscapes feel like another world. The contrast to the desert is extraordinary. For riders from the north of Europe, the sunshine alone is reason enough to come. Here, you can ride in short sleeves in March while snow still covers the streets at home. And for those from Asia, Mallorca offers the space and calm that modern cities rarely allow. It is cycling in its purest form, surrounded by nature and guided by people who truly care.

What surprises most of our guests is how much they achieve during the week. Even riders who arrive nervous about the climbs finish the week stronger and prouder than they expected. Five hundred kilometres and eight thousand three hundred metres of elevation is no small feat. But because the week is structured with care, with full support on the road and proper recovery each evening, it never feels overwhelming. Riders go home tired but happy, fit but not exhausted, and ready to start planning their return.

We have created something special here. It is still cycling at a high level, still serious in its ambition, but wrapped in comfort and service that make it accessible to anyone with a genuine love for the sport. There is no need to be a racer, no need to chase numbers, and no need to fear being left behind. The beauty of a Velocamp Mallorca week is that it works for every kind of cyclist. Whether you are an experienced rider who wants to push yourself or someone who simply wants to enjoy the best roads in Europe with full support, you will find exactly what you are looking for.

Finding that balance

The secret is balance. Enough challenge to make you proud, enough comfort to make you smile, and enough care to make you feel at home. That is what a true cycling holiday should be.

I have finished the Camp having made life long friends who I will definitely keep in contact with. It was more than just a cycling camp. Thank you to the Team for such a fantastic week 🙏 — Sarah-Jayne Graves
